NRSC Chairman Demands Urgent Action Following Horrific Trelawny Crash

Following a devastating traffic collision in Trelawny that claimed multiple lives, the Chairman of the National Road Safety Council (NRSC) is publicly demanding urgent and aggressive intervention to stem the bloodshed on Jamaica's roads.

The horrific crash, which involved a passenger vehicle and a heavy-duty truck, has reignited intense debate about reckless driving, speeding, and the enforcement of the new Road Traffic Act.

Speaking to the press, the NRSC Chairman expressed deep frustration over the sheer volume of preventable deaths occurring on the nation's highways. "We cannot continue to accept this as normal," he stated emphatically. "Every single week, families are being destroyed because of sheer indiscipline and absolute disregard for the rules of the road."

The Chairman is calling for an immediate rollout of electronic traffic ticketing and camera surveillance systems across all major highways, arguing that physical police presence alone is no longer enough to deter speeding motorists.

, he urged the government to strictly enforce penalties on commercial drivers who operate defective vehicles or drive while dangerously fatigued.

As the Trelawny community mourns the victims of this latest tragedy, the pressure is mounting on the authorities to move beyond public education campaigns and start stripping licenses from repeat offenders before more lives are lost.
