JFF Kicks Off Ambitious Five-Year Plan for Women's Football
The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has unveiled a comprehensive five-year strategic plan designed to significantly elevate women’s football across the island. JFF Kicks Off Ambitious Five-Year Plan for Women's Football
Kingston, Jamaica: So, the Jamaica Football Federation just dropped some big news, and honestly, it’s the kind of talk we’ve been waiting to hear. They’ve rolled out a five-year strategic plan to completely shake up women’s football across the island. They’re calling it the "FIVE-YEAR PUSH," and the goal is simple: take the fire the Reggae Girlz have already lit and build a real, lasting system for our female ballers, from the pickney dem in the community right up to the pro level. No more flash in the pan. We’re talking about making Jamaica a name that teams dread to see on the fixture list, year in and year out.
At a recent press briefing, the JFF laid out exactly what this looks like. We’re talking grassroots programs to spot young talent before they even hit their teens, serious coaching education for both men and women on the sideline, and a major overhaul of our local women’s leagues so the competition is actually competitive. They’re also putting money into better training grounds, bringing in sports science support, and hunting down more funding to keep this thing running long-term. The bottom line? The JFF knows that if we want to hang with the world’s best on a regular basis, we can’t just wing it anymore.

JFF President Michael Ricketts didn’t hold back when he spoke about it. "Our Reggae Girlz have shown the world what Jamaican women can achieve with dedication and support," he said. "This five-year push is our commitment to ensuring that their success is not an anomaly, but the norm. We are investing in the future, providing opportunities for every girl who dreams of playing football, and building a system that can continuously produce world-class talent." In plain English? They want to make sure the next wave of talent is even deeper and the standard of play across Jamaica jumps up big time.
But here’s the real talk: none of this works without a serious team effort and some real cash. The JFF is putting out the call to the government, private businesses, and local communities to get on board. We need money for infrastructure, scholarships for the promising players, and the day-to-day costs of running the show. If everybody just nods and walks away, this "FIVE-YEAR PUSH" could stall out before it really gets going. And that would be a tough one to swallow for every young girl with a ball at her feet.
